On the 22nd April 2017 Birmingham Opera Company showcased a flashmob at Birmingham New Street Station (AKA Grand Central). It was comprised of two stand alone pieces which were part of the build up to our 2018 production WAKE.

Drums of War (Orazi e Curiazi) is the flashmob’s dance piece and written by Giorgio Battistelli. Two drummer warriors battle to the death. With each brutal blow, primal hiss and howl, the Fallen spring to life. March 2018 saw the World Premiere of Birmingham Opera Company’s new commission WAKE - “a new opera for Birmingham”.

Taking the “Myth of Lazarus”, the crowning miracle, WAKE explores how the young generation perceive the death and life after death.
