Thrilling audiences at 17 (often unusual) venues across the country, City of Birmingham Touring Opera's Magic Flute (in English and with the full dialogue) was a massive success. The show was so popular, that after performances at the Stockland Green Leisure Centre and Colmers Farm Leisure Centre, Birmingham City Council was inundated with requests for a re-run.

30 years later we've ruffled some feathers with The Magic Flute - again. This time in collaboration with Macerata Opera Festival in Italy and Les Arts in Valencia, Spain. The story was picked up in news and politics pages across Europe, including in the Danish newspaper Politiken, the French press, and here in English.

In Macerata over 100 local people, earthquake survivors and refugees performed alongside professionals in the Sferisterio arena.

"Working together in a community, which accepted the other person was wonderful. I really enjoyed being part of the group of the 100 citizens from all over the world I learned a lot. I hope it will last over time.” - Tchrobodi, Volunteer Actor
