Volunteers are at the heart of Birmingham Opera Company. It's one thing that makes the company and its work so special.

Maybe it's for you? 

Every year we invite the peoples of Birmingham to take part in our award-winning productions alongside international professional artists. There's no need to audition to be part of it and we'll help you to learn all the music by ear, so you don't have to know how to read music.

Be in our next production....

Join us at one of our FREE Taster Sessions to see what it's all about and have a go at singing or acting. You'll meet the Birmingham Opera Company team and have the opportunity to try something new. We'll even pay your travel expenses (up to £5.20 for every session you attend) and provide some light refreshments! These taster sessions will mainly be for people who haven’t volunteered with us before.

Who else will be there?

Whatever you end up doing with us, there will be a team of mentors and like minded volunteers and professional artists, stage management and producers all keen to support each other and to grow together. 

I won't know anyone!,

Every year, well over 90% of the people we meet year round are new to us. It's a great opportunity to meet new people or bring a friend. 

I don't have any experience or ...I have lots of experience!

Whether you've performed many times before or you're a complete newbie when it comes to opera - everyone's welcome aged 16+! We’ll give you everything you need to be performance ready including training, MP3 listening tracks and support from professional mentors all for FREE. We also reimburse up to £5.00 in travel expenses for each rehearsal you attend. 

No Auditions

There's no need to audition to be a volunteer actor or singer or dancer in the chorus.
