New Year New Year, new show. As 2023 slips into the past and we step in to 2024, as the bells strike midnight, this will be a New Year like no other. Join us on the journey into the future! In July 2024, we present New Year by Michael Tippett. New Year will be directed by opera legend Keith Warner, making his debut with Birmingham Opera Company. BOC Music Director Alpesh Chauhan will conduct the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra alongside hundreds of Brummies in an extraordinary space. As usual, the venue is top secret… for now. New Year tells the intertwining stories of Somewhere Today and Nowhere Tomorrow. Its world premiere took place in Houston, Texas in 1989, followed by a run of performances in Glyndebourne, UK in 1990. It hasn’t been seen live since, not anywhere. With six performances in July 2024, New Year will be one of the hottest tickets of the year. Tickets available from May. Of course, you can get involved earlier by being in the show! If you want to appear as a volunteer chorus member, actor or dancer, drop us a line. In March there’ll be opportunities for you to meet us and find out more, no strings attached. Interested? The Ice Break took place in a disused city centre warehouse to critical acclaim. Read more about it here. Manage Cookie Preferences
