It Gets Lighter From Here

We made it! As of 3.56pm today, Monday 21st December, the sun has set on the shortest day of the year and It Gets Lighter From Here! Head on to Facebook or Twitter, search #ItGetsLighterFromHere and get ready to smile…

Birmingham Opera Company has come together with Culture Central, artists and arts organisations from across the West Midlands to release a series of new 60-second films through the hashtag #ItGetsLighterFromHere. They combine hope, optimism and – in our case – they take inspiration from the prelude to Wagner's RhineGold, the epic opera we’ll be staging next summer. We look forward to seeing you in a canalside metalworks in August 2021. In the meantime…

The #ItGetsLighterFromHere commissions represent a huge cross-section of artforms and artists living and working in the West Midlands. Watch and click, watch and click… there are hundreds of bitesize new digital treats waiting for you. See the full set of ten works commissioned by Birmingham Opera Company on our Vimeo channel, find out more about the initiative from our friends at Culture Central, or head over to social media & indulge in a #ItGetsLighterFromHere pick and mix.

Or we'll treat you right here, right now to a spoken word piece by Midlands creative Scott Simpson ⬇️
