FAQs [Frequently Asked Questions]

I would be interested to work with Birmingham Opera Company as a singer. How should I apply?
Graham Vick works with Sarah Playfair, our Casting Consultant to identify singers who we then invite to audition for specific roles. Unfortunately we no longer have the resources to hold general auditions. However, you can send us your CV, photo and a covering letter at any time and we will keep your details on file and get in touch if we think you think you might be suitable for something.

I would be interested to do a work placement with Birmingham Opera Company. How should I apply?
We occasionally offer work placements to people mainly on the administration side of the company. As a small team it is often not possible to meet all the requests we receive. By all means, however, get in touch if you would like to do a work placement or internship with us – we will consider your request.

I am doing some research and would like to know more about Birmingham Opera Company. Is it possible to come and watch rehearsals?
Unfortunately all our rehearsals are closed to people not involved in the production. There is a lot of information available on this website, particularly about previous productions. If you need more information we will try and help you where possible if you write to us at our address.

I would like to use one of your orchestral versions for a production. Are they available for hire?
There is a list of materials available for hire in the Hire Library Section of the website.

Do you hold education workshops?
We do not have a separate education department - education is at the centre of the production work of the company. Our work is primarily aimed at adults – both as participants and as audience members. The education work occurs in the rehearsal process and in performances. As a result we do not currently have a programme of workshops available for schools.
